Seat heater is ON after remote started

0 votes
Hi

2008 BMW 523LI. Installed with Viper 5704+PKALL+INT BMW2

Everything works well. I didnt turn on seat heater or AC before get off car. It is closed to summer here. However, the seat heater at driver side is On after remote started.

If I start the car by key, everything is fine.

It is D2D between 5704 and PKALL. INTBMW2 is W2W.

From car side, there are Can-H/L, Ignition and footbrakes connected.

What causes this happen? I am sure I didn't connect anything to heater or AC.

Also looking at the coverage for the evo-all heated seats are not covered.

The key used for immobilizer bypass probably has its own preset.

Remote start the vehicle.

Turn off the heated seats and set any other presets desired.

Then shut the vehicle down.

Test remote start at this point and see if heated seats are still on.

After remote started, heater is not ON. when I press unlock, the seat heaters are all ON.

Then I close door, press brake to shutdown the 5704. Now, the passenger side's seat heater is OFF. But driver is still ON.

The key is  plastic key with chipset inside, no remote function, just key only.

I had tried your steps, It is still ON.

It  seems CANBUS sends incorrect command to car. becuse there is no extra wire for heater. If I start the car by that key with the remote case, everything is normal.

I also try like this: give ground to "while running" and then, 12V to  ACC of INTBMW2, I can hear INTBMW2 push the ignition ON and cut brake. At that time, I can start the car. Heaters are not ON. so, it is not the problem of INTBMW2.
I test it one more time today.

Remote started, everything is ok.

Press unlock, both seat heaters are ON.

after about 40 seconds~1 minute, passenger side's heater is OFF. Driver side is still ON.

I think the problem is the UNLOCK sent to INTBMW2 cause INTBMW2 generates higher voltage to ignition. Not sure.  I will add a diode to ignition when customer comes back next time.
Neither the evo or the INT-BMW2 has the capability of turning on the seat heaters unless they are physically connected.

The only way I can see this happening is one of the keys has comfort settings attached to it from precious use.
how to reset its settings?

I had tried turn off heaters, turn on AC. Then shut off by PTS.

Then remote started it again. It is still same.

If it is preset, why does it turn off passenger side's heater after a while?

Also customer complaint that if he unlock the car by factory remote, alarm goes off when open door. He must use Viper remote to disarm it.

It seems CANBUS commands incompatible.
Turn on OEM remote monitring to see if that corrects the issue for the alarm going off when unlocking from the factory remote. Also I see you enabled unlock before lock after start in the evo...does the vehicle do this when remote starting the vehicle?

In regards to the vehicle presets you should be able to find this in the owners manual for the vehicle.
Thanks for your reply. First of all, I dont think it is preset problem. Because I trigger blue and ACC wire, the INTBMW2 can start the car with that plastic key. At that time, heaters are not ON, AC is ON. everything is normal. Also, I can insert the plastic key into key case to start this car. Everything is fine. If it is preset with this key, it should turn heater as well. I dont know where to turn off unlock before remote started. I do hear door clicking when remote starting. By the way, it is PKALL. I think this is made by Fortin too. It doesnt monitor OEM remote. Regards
If it is a PK ALL it is made by Fortin but supported by directed electronics. So you would need to be directing your questions to them. As they are the point of support for that module.
SInce it's a directed piece they may have added coding for heated seats. Fortin does send any CAN bus commands to enable them...

Unless maybe there's a physical connection somewhere causing them to turn on whenever the RS is engaged.

I would also take the valet key that is wrapped (used for the RS install) out and start the car with it; WIHTOUT THE SMART KEY ANYWHERE NEAR THE CAR. Just to see if the driver side heated seat comes on.  As Derek said, issue like this are normally because of user presets saved to key 1, 2, 3, etc.... .
Hi, Robb,

I said this on previous post. I had tested the valet key(wrapped for RS). It starts the car, everything is fine. Heaters are not ON. It keeps the last status.

So I dont think it is preset issue.

DEI's international support didn't answer this. Seems they don't know anything.
Honestly, you have an odd issue going on that has never been seen and cannot be replicated.

Aside from the required connections, what else is connected? parking lights? Have you tried without parking lights connected?
I would also suggest trying the 4.18 firmware on the PK-ALL.  Once flashed back to the original firmware, reset and reprogram the unit. Reset procedure i think you know, but just in case, here is the procedure: http://wirecolor.com/en/qa/50193/faq-how-do-i-reset-my-evo-all?show=50193#q50193

Little note. Back in the day, units had to be flashed with D2D firmware unlike today where it's an option to be enabled. I would suggest scrapping D2D completely to help isolate your heated seat issue.
Tonight customer comes back.

I remote start the car, then unplug the 4p data wire.

Then press unlock. Heaters are not ON. So, the heater ON command is sent from CANBUS network not wiring.

Then I connect back the 4P data wire.

I find a funny thing. I press one more time unlock, the heater tempreture level goes down 1 grid. press..press..the heater is OFF. Press, heater is ON.

It seems the remote control can adjust the seat heater cycling from OFF to ON.

If you have newer firmware to fix this, could you send it to me? I have all kinds of MCU tools.
