The wire I am supposed to plug into the back of a connector has no plug on the end.

2010 Maxima. I called tech support an was told to break the leg off of a diode, solder it to the wire & jam it in there. Seems like some ghetto wire maintenance. Is there a better, more secure way? Thanks

Hi Ben,

Yes, there is a better way. The wire can be stripped to a certain length, say around 3 cm., spread apart the wire strands, then cut some the wire strands off about 1 cm from the end. This will "narrow down" the end of the stripped wire making more of a pointy end. This will ease the insertion in the pin itself. Put the wires back together by twisting them together. Insert the wire in the pin, then at the end of the connector where the wire sticking out, you should have enough wire to bend and loop around 90 degrees around the connector. Just tape around the connector tugging and protecting the remaining wire at the connector.

The Nissan Tharness has the appropriate terminal on the so that you can insert them in the factory connector properly.. http://fortin.ca/en/products/t-harnesses/thar-nis1/

Other solutions would be to check with local electronics supply stores for the appropriate terminal.

You can also visit a scrap yard to salvage some of those terminal.
