Need remote start to run indefinitely, not time out after 30 min

0 votes
I'm trying to use the remote start (or push to start?) feature to replace my factory key. I need to prevent the vehicle from shutting off. I disable the foot brake option and was able to drive it but it died on the freeway!!! Very unsafe! - 2008 Dodge Sprinter w/ Crimestopper SP502 for remote start

Max run time on the SP-502 is 30 min.  Default is set to 20 min.  If I remember correctly, we spoke on the phone a few days ago.  You only have 1 key for the vehicle and you had to use it for your remote start install.  You'll need to purchase another key as the sp-502 and evo-all won't replace a key.

The module is not designed to run indefinitely.

Is there any way to make it do so? That's the whole point of this device for me since a single factory replacement key fob is $500!!! If the Fortin can't run indefinitely, I need to use another unit that can, or abandon this idea entirely. Thank you!
The evo will get shut down when your remote starter times out.

So you need to figure out how to make your remote starter stay on indefinitely.
So the remote starter (Crimestopper SP502) is the one timing out? Or the Evo? Let me ask you this, on which wire is the "shut down" command delivered? If I used a simple switch to open/short this wire as needed, could I prevent the "shut down" command from reaching the vehicle? I'd rather not have to mess with a switch. If there's anything else you can think of I'd really REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!
Your remote starter is timing out.

The evo will get the shut down in data link or through the drk.blue wire on the 20 pin connector.

You need to figure out how to make the remote starter run indefinitely.  This is where your issue stems from.
The Fortin wouldn't operate with the Dk. Blue wire connected, so it's open. If I disconnect the white and blue wires of the data link connection after the vehicle starts by using a "kill switch" of sorts, in order to prevent the Crimestopper from issuing the "shut down" command, would that create other problems in operating/driving the vehicle normally? Thanks!

Not sure? You are not using the product as intended so this is uncharted territory.

Okay, one more question (I think)....can you think of any other remote starters with an option to turn off the run timer and allow the vehicle to run indefinitely? Thanks!
Do not know of any off hand?

Most remote starters are meant to shut down as you are not supposed to drive the vehicle using a remote starter due to safety reasons.
There is no way to turn off the internal timer in a remote start, what your doing is extremely dangerous and this idea should be abandoned entirely.
